Bio
Background – Young Bryan Carsid was always a fan of science and he dreamed of one day being among the top researchers in the world. He graduated with Honors from Oxford with a Ph D in Biology centering on Genetics. He wrote his thesis of DNArecombinant technologies and was published in several scientific journals. He has been working as a Senior Researcher on Retroviral technology for Coterak Medical Technologies in London. His intelligence has been an invaluable asset to the company but their government funding has been shrinking ever since the government adopted severe Austerity measures 2 years ago.
After that he taught at Oxford for a semester before being approached by an unknown person (TEMPEST) who offered him a job for his company as its Chief Scientist. The offer was to good to refuse and he flew to Singapore that day on a private jet, he spent the entire 13 hour flight thinking about his ideal setup. His benefactor basically gave him a blank check and told him some of the ambitious objectives he wanted to accomplish, cloning, genetic redesign, and other complex problems were on that list. His wife and young son remained in London for four months before moving into the fairly nice apartment that was paid for by the company.
Bryan had full run of everything he could recruit other researchers, purchase equipment and chemicals without a lot of questions, and had hired an engineer to optimize the space they had given to them (basically the size of a university science center in the middle of Singapore). Chimera Research Group (C.R.G.) quickly became to talk of every scientist finally someone was willing to tackle the hard problems of science (since DARPA suffered from budget cuts as the American Government had to introduce its own Austerity measures concerning defense projects).
The group has succeeded wildly and numerous patents every year come from C.R.G. concerning medical and other topics. They have created numerous gene therapies that are coming to a close of testing and await approval by government agencies and the close relationship with Singapore’s universities and hospitals has greatly expanded their abilities. Many students intern at the company which has obtained numerous other specialties (Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Systems, Biologicals, Polymer Science, Nanotechnology, Applied Physics), as their market share grows larger they are beginning to cause significant expansion and have become a world-wide organization.
Carsid is amazed at this progress and continues to run the day to day of Chimera Biologicals leaving other groups to chosen supervisors and boards of trustees. He has his own private laboratory facility which is the envy of the group considering they come up with some of the most creative and useful technologies that make Chimera such a power.
Description – Bryan Carsid is a humble man he has a certain English charm to him but otherwise is fairly normal. He is typically seen wearing a suit (for formal functions) or street clothes (still nice clothes) and a lab coat.
Attitude – Carsid is a creative and entrepreneurial man gifted with exceptional intellect in numerous fields of science but specifically Biology. He is very helpful to the many scientists working for the company and teaches an undergraduate and graduate class every year at the National University of Singapore {which is only 10 blocks from the original Chimera facility (which has three campuses throughout the town).
