    Hi All.

I'm in the process of designing a Mission Adventure for JB007, and have run into something that I cannot figure out.

When designing an adventure, how do you figure out what PC Ranks the adventure is appropriate for? Or, if you want to design an adventure for PCs of a particular Rank, how do you make sure that the adventure is not too easy/too difficult for that Rank? The Basic Rulebook makes no mention in the Gamesmaster Section of how to "balance", to use a D&D term, an adventure. Any suggestions/ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jim

IIRC the supplement "For Your Information Only" has adventure design information in it.

Thanks, Pineappleleader. Wouldn't ya know it? It's one of the sourcebooks that I don't have.

For Your Information is definitely worth picking up. But I don't think it has the answer to Jorner's question. In truth, there's no hard and fast rule for how to assign ranks to an adventure.

The rule of thumb I use is based more on the type of mission, number of skills required to complete it, and the strength of the opposition. Dangerous missions that will require a variety of skills naturally go to the 00s to complete.

Also, the primary chances of the oppositon are a good guide. PCs of around 10 are equivalent to Rookies. PCs of around 15 are Agent-level. PCs of 20 are 00-level.
